The draft was fun. Had a good time. Now that it's all over, I made some mistakes in my planing. I picked up too many older guys and some players that might not contribute as much as I had hoped. Overall, it was a great learning experience and I am not sure I will go back to auto draft. It's nice to have a say on who i have on my team.

I do have a question. How does the draft work for next season. From what I understand, we keep our players from season to season.

Almost nothing went as I planned. Hard to judge this early but I will give myself a grade of B. I thought I would be a lot younger than I turned out to be but the only rookie I ended up with was booker at the end of the draft. I ended up being a little bit heavy on center and pg so I can see I likely have a trade somewhere in my future to balance myself out.

I had a decent draft I guess considering from round 4 on I had to let auto pick do it's thing. Harden, Melo and DJ (my only 3 selections that I made) were players I had in mind, and should go well together.
Pity I got Kobe. Not sure what happened because I swear I placed him on "do not draft". Oh well, I guess I'll ride one of my favourite players ever off into the sunset.

Schwidawg, I'm on the same page as you. I'm thinking this will be the last year using the auto draft in our other league and going with the live draft next year. A little more control and fun. We've pretty much had the same group of guys for a few years or so now and I think they would like it better too.

I do have a question. How does the draft work for next season. From what I understand, we keep our players from season to season. Correct, your roster the final day of the season carries over with you the next season entirely. That means your 17 players, plus anyone you may have had on your IL spot to end the season. Just like a real NBA team you can trade those players all offseason however you will not be allowed to add any FAs. We also each have 2 rookie picks, similar to the real NBA draft. We conduct that draft sometime after the real NBA draft is complete in summer. You are also allowed to trade those picks at anytime if you wish. Order is reverse of standings and we will have a lottery of non playoff teams to determine the top 2 picks. Then around a week before the season starts you'll have to trim your roster to 17. Assuming you still have the 17 from prior year, 1 IL player and 2 draft picks...you'd have to cut 3 guys in order to have the proper roster size. Hope that helps. In my long winded way...there will be no more drafts like the one we just had

Quick analysis of my draft is both good and bad. I had intended on drafting a team that was young and my draft prep actually broke players down by age brackets. I had no intention of drafting anyone 30 or older until later rounds and held to that. Probably means i'm a couple years away from really competing. Also disappointed I didn't get a few guys i thought i had locked in. Griffin i thought would be there at 17. I also thought i was reaching way high for Mirotic and Nurkic only to see them go a few picks before i planned to take each. Guess i wasn't reaching enough. This draft would be alot better if you guys weren't as good at this as you are.
Overall I give my grade a B. I held to my strategy and of my 17 players, I think 13 or 14 are guys I had in my pool of about 30+ players i thought i may get. I'm even younger than i expected and more guard heavy than i'd like but overall i have alot to build on and if i somehow stay patient (those in KL know that is not my strongest trait) then i think i could be real good soon.

reasonably happy with my draft, surprised i ended up with kyrie @ 21, i know he is coming back from a serious injury but i'm pretty confident he'll rebound from that and i do think he's capable of being a top 10 fantasy player for net decade if he can stay healthy, understand health is a risk but well and truly worth it that low
was always taking kawhi, don't love him in re-draft but a good building block in dynasty formats, had a long thought about Lebron, he may be 30 but getting him @ 10 is still huge imo, he's got a few elite seasons in him and probably a few greats ones after that
the early rounds made me push mirotic, nurkic and mcdaniels up a round or 2 where i originally had them pegged, i wanted all 3 for the long haul, feel i probably reached a bit but i think everyone did that a bit (except for those who went win now )
pretty happy landing val, dieng and sullinger where i did
gonna be a lot of fun, can see there is a few teams in win now, a few teams looking ahead and the majority probably trying to do a bit of both

biggest shock for me was probably embiid going 61 picks after exum, i guess embiid has a longer injury history then exum but i think he also has a higher ceiling

I think an argument can be made for you having the best draft Budge. Maybe i'm bias as i was obsessed with getting Mirotic and Nurkic and you got both.
