I figured he would not have been there. I would have taken Taurean Prince if he was available though.

So I started thinking about this when it was my time to pick in the Keeper draft, as far as the influence that the Keeper draft could have on the Dynasty draft, and ultimately I figured that Dejounte would be gone by the time I picked in the second round here so it didn't really matter to me this year, but I could see some strategies developing in future drafts that could upset some GMs. I wonder if we shouldn't finish the first round of the Dynasty draft before starting the Keeper draft?

I was seeing the same thing but I dont see why one should be started before the other. If someone is in both then I pick Dejounte here then someone knows to pick him earlier in the keeper. If I pick him early in the keeper then someone knows to pick him early here. Either league can gain an advantage from the other one. I pick on who I like/need not what others have done.

Yeah I get that but the chances that Dejounte gets enough playing time this year to land in my top 10 keepers is pretty small where as I'd give him a few years in a Dynasty League to show something. I just think a rookie draft means a lot more to a Dynasty team than a Keeper team outside of maybe the top 3-5 picks.

Ok, Schwidawg selects Jakob Poeltl from the univeristy of Utah. I'm taking a risk here. I was hurting in three point shots last year but I see needing some help in the center spot in the near future so this is long term thinking.

Smart pick Schwidawg, i was wondering if Jakob was going to fall to me at pick 17. Once he adds some weight I can see him having a Steven Adams type impact in the NBA which will be a valuable and steady presence at center.
As for the topic of the keeper and dynasty drafts influencing each other, not sure how to get around that. Some guys can tip there hand a bit on who they like but i'd also think teams would draft by need and realize this league is long term. You make a good point Reavers, i wouldn't want a guy in keeper draft that i know has no chance at cracking my top 10 early on.

Poetlt is more like a Gasol than an Adams, shame he got stuck in Toronto as a back up for now

Mr. Clutch selects HENRY ELLENSON of the Detriot Pistons. I'm hoping he gets playing time. But I like his game and his size and he can cause some defensive issues with opposing teams.

I kind of like the idea of both 3nc keeper leagues drafting at the same time every year. It can be like an annual off-season tradition that everybody is just used to… that way we all know when a summer league champion is crowned that means the drafts begin. And from an intelligence standpoint I think it is an interesting twist that one league could be strategically affected by the decisions in another, and good or bad it is at least an interesting and unique characteristic. Heck, I am in only one of the leads but you better believe I am at least aware of Who is being drafted in what position and by what manager in the little keeper, and may be the importance is overstated within my own mind but it just seems to me like info that is too important to ignore from a competitor's standpoint.

I just think a rookie draft means a lot more to a Dynasty team than a Keeper team outside of maybe the top 3-5 picks. While I agree with some of your points you also say why it is important to have them at different times. We will start off with the points I agree: Rookie draft means more in the dynasty league then keeper outside of the first few picks. Dejounte will not get enough playing time this year to land in your top 10. Where we disagree is that this has an impact on the draft. I see different strategies for the leagues especially after the first few picks. Teams that have lower picks in this league could still draft for potential after a few years where as in the Keeper league especially with someone that already has 10 keepers they will draft more for someone that is going to help them this year. These different strategies could effect how people draft and if someone drafts who I was going to take in one league just because I took them in another who is to say that they either wouldnt have done that already and that I was going to pick him.
