The 2016-17 season is now open!! I have adjusted rosters to include draft picks and any trades. Let me know if you see anything i may have missed. I also locked all of your rosters to prevent any adds or drops for now.
We need to decide on a roster submission date, any suggestions? This is he date we get to 17 (or 18 if a player is listed as IL). Once we do that I will set the rosters and all FA will go on waivers. Keep in mind the Waiver priority list will be based on best to last finishers last year so Clutch gets waiver #1.

I would put it later somewhere along oct 15. I know I am going to be in the minority here as eveyone on here wants to hurry up and wait.

I noticed the division teams have changed? Why is that? Shouldn't we be keeping teams in the same divisions like the NBA? Division 2 has the top 3 finishing teams from last year.

As far as the roster submission date. I would say the later the better. Maybe see some preseason games and judge your rosters talent and playing time by that.

I'd say just the opposite, the rosters need to be established as soon as possible....( in my best Trump voice) Immediately--immediately--immediately..

Roster final submissions should be done as soon as possible. We can't pick up free agents until rosters are final, we really can't make any additional trades until rosters are final, now that the yahoo site is open I really don't think we all want to wait around until preseason in October before we make any free-agent pick ups, at least I don't. Perhaps there are some considerations hear that I am not seeing? Perhaps making the finalization of rosters the same every year, like September 1, that's a nice round sounding date, then after that setting the opening of free agency is easy. I guess I don't see the point in us anxiously anticipating the opening of Yahoo fantasy just so we can wait until October to finalize rosters and pick up free agents.

Good catch, that was something Yahoo automatically did and i didn't notice. I can manually adjust the divisions to what they were last year, and will do that over the coming weekend.

I see we have opinions on both sides regarding when we lock rosters. I'm honestly 50-50 on this.
One reason i can see waiting is we will all get to see the roles our rookies are playing and whether it's worth fitting them into our top 17. Mostly that impacts 2nd round picks.
On the other end of the spectrum, we will be allowed to make moves all preseason. If someone makes a rush decision to drop someone that can only benefit others i suppose.
Also interesting to see how teams use their waiver priority. I'm assuming we'll see a big rush of moves when i first open up FA but maybe i'm wrong.

I want to see a few preseason games before we submit final rosters. It will definitely make a difference for the last couple spots on my team.
I'm not sure what benefit we would derive from locking the rosters soon. This is a dynasty league and our decisions can impact us for a decade, so it seems worthwhile to wait just a few weeks to gather intelligence on our players before we make our final decisions. I'm OK locking a week or two before the season, though, as I agree we should allow waivers to settle before the regular season begins.

The thing is we don't have a traditional Fantasy draft in this league so it can't be really compared to the other ones exactly. You could say it's worthwhile to wait a while in the standard league, or even in the little keeper league, because nobody has players on the roster and getting a chance to see some preseason games would definitely effect how the draft goes. There is no draft in the dynasty league… 95% of the players are already placed on teams. So you would basically be forcing everyone to wait on A small group of franchises to decide how the last 1 or 2 low tier guys on their roster might or might not do in preseason. Most rookies don't play much in their rookie year anyway, and you're. almost certainly not going to glean any useful information from what they do in a couple preseason games. I just don't see what Worth while "scouting" can be accomplished that justifies making everybody wait all these weeks to make free-agent pick ups. If you delay opening up free agents until October you might as well tell everybody in the league not to bother hanging around in the forums for the next month and a half because there would just be no point in watching over a franchise you have no ability to make any moves with. Like I said, if you have a draft then yes there is good reason to delay it so everybody can get a look at the players in preseason… but in here we are just talking about free agents that would likely occupy the far bottom of our teams. The NBA opened free agency way back on July 1, so we are already a couple months behind that. There is no logical reason to delay this longer than necessary... Give us access to our teams now and let people decide for themselves whether they want to keep that unknown rookie prospect or MoveOn to something else…

The sooner the better imo. You don't wait until after the first lap to place your bets on a horse race. Good owners do research so why delay the inevitable roster churn for the impatient GMs

I was against UA on the fact that I wanted to see who I would keep on my team but either something UA said or something else changed my mind. The last few players on a team usually dont stay anyway so it is probably better to post earlier so we can make moves and pick up hot new FA before others.
