3NC history, Did you know?

I thought it would be good to throw up a "did you know" thread just before the 4th season of the 3NC kicks off this weekend (with the draft)

So, lets go (also, can an admin stick this please, thanks)


DID YOU KNOW

1. That the 3NC was originally named NBA 2005/2006/NBA championship 06/07 in it's first two seasons? Commish Roost introduced a new league name in late season 2 whilst the playoffs were happening, and added a forum to the league after such high activity in both seasons.

2. That the league has still got 7 managers from season 1 left. The managers are the Dallas Roosters, Melbourne Force (formely known as Tigers), Playmaker24 (formely known as Sknight), PP, Rotan (formely known as Brokeback Mcgrady), InItToWinIt, Showtime Lakers.

3. That only three original managers have the same name since the start of season 1. Dallas Roosters, PP and InItToWinIt have not changed their team name.

4. That out of the 3 Countries playing the game, all 3 have represented their country by winning the 3NC each season. WinIt is the lone American to win the Championship, Rotan won the title in 2006/2007 for New Zealand, and Melbourne Force will be forever itched into the books as the first manager from Australia to win the Championship.

5. That the oldest Manager to play in the league was W.A. Sandgropers, at the ripe age of 41 back in 06/07

6. The youngest manager to play was PP, at the age of 15 back in 05/06

7. That there has been a combined 28 managers in the 3NC's four year history? The list of managers are below (in order of age)

8. That Rotan owns the current record for 12 weeks undefeated. Rotan won 12 matches in 12 weeks, from week 2 through to week 13, only to lose to Playmaker24 twice in the regular season, both in weeks 1 and 14. Though Rotan would get his revenge, beating playmaker24 in the championship game. The record was formely held by the Dallas Roosters who had a 7 game winning streak in 05/06

What no love for the Canadians? Hopefully either myself or Mblock can bring the title home to the land of beavers, mounties and maple syrup.

I though that put the totality of the league in perspective. Hearing the Sandgropers name cracked me up a little. Haddn't heard that name in a long time.

It would be fitting for a canadian team to win it this year.
I guess I'll have to be half rooting for US teams this season to break the deadlock.

This is an accomplishment worth mentioning again. 12 in a row... and to win the title too, AND in dramatic fashion. Very impressive.

One noticable thing about this league is that it's been around 4 years now and still no individual or country has really dominated over time. It's been pretty even so far, all in all. It will be interesting to see what the landscape will look like 5 years from now.

Another great writeup roost.

Rotan won the league on draft night. It just didn't become apparent till the season started. Playmaker got the better side (much better) of a trade with Beat This, which allowed him to compete seriously for the title. This one trade 2 seasons ago was a big reason for the tight ass voting against trades last season. Rotan was able to stay on top by picking up Herrmann and Kinsey who lit up the NBA for 1 month (March/April 07). It was a great final between the 2 managers.

Yep I won off autodraft..just went back to 2005 season posts....One thousand four hundred and seven of them..loved where Sknight(playmaker)didnt realize the final was 10 days long and he left rooster empty on 8th day thinking it was over!!
