Just a heads up, i've had a couple guys reach out to me and let me know they won't be joining. I've now extended invites out to a few guys from our Justice League that are not part of 3NC. Since most of us play in that Justice League as well, I figured that made the most sense.

Also, thinking out loud here. What if instead of my FA proposal we do something like this.
The rookie draft becomes a 2 round rookie and free agent draft. Before the draft you have to trim your roster to accomodate how many picks you have. So let's say you have just your 2 picks. You'd have to drop 2 players prior to the draft (3 if you had an IL player). Those players then become part of the draft pool. If you don't want to draft and simply want to keep 16 players than you can bypass the draft entirely.
Just a thought i had while sleeping. Maybe this might solve any confusion. I'd plan to hold that draft on these forums since teams may simply pass. At that point maybe a 3rd round makes sense (anticipating better teams may pass the draft and lesser teams may want to pick more new guys). My guess is most of the players picked will be rookies or young guys on rosters anyway.

Now you propose this simplistic idea, Im swayed to stay again. lets get it rolling before I change my mind again (Im seriously 50/50 about this whole thing) - just know that when it starts, and if I commit to playing when it opens, I will give it my all. I wont go into a season 50/50. its all or nothing, which is why Im having reservations...

I still think it's best to keep the rookie draft and FA separate. Have the rookie draft in the offseason and then when the league opens for the season all the free agents go on waivers and the worst team would have the highest claim.

Also imo go with 18 roster spots and 2 IR spots I'm more inclined to keep it 16 with 1 IL now and we can surely add if it seems necessary. To me it is much easier to add spots then delete spots later as teams may have built up deeper rosters. If anything i'd prefer two IL over 18 roster spots to keep some options for guys to improve and some player movement.

I think larger rosters encourages hanging onto developmental players and cleans up the available player pool so teams aren't winning on the backs of waiver wire wonders. 16 is fine for a redraft or keeper league but I'd go big for a dynasty league

I think 18 is a good amount too, assuming we are using daily lineups as opposed to weekly. I know this sounds weird, but it takes me longer to do a weekly lineup than it does a daily lineup every day for a week. less research required I guess.

I like the 2 il spot idea. I think you need that many to accommodate such large roster sizes needs. I'm flexible on the 16 or 18 roster size. Though if presented with the option I would probably go with the higher. With either roster size option I like the idea of combining rookies and free agents in one free for all draft. That way nobody can complain that they are stuck either with a rookie that won't play or with a player on their current roster that they don't want.

Only 5 spots remaining, 3NC managers. Justice Leaguers are filling up the league quickly. Sign up while you can!

I know the point of a Dynasty League is to build a roster from within. Don't we have some fears that moving up to 18 spots plus a potential IL would all but eliminate any FA pickups? I'm open to the idea, although i prefer 16. Just playing devils advocate here a bit. Seeing how thin the FA wire was with 17 in our Keeper league has me a bit concerned.
Since we have 16 roster spot guys and 18 roster spot guys, is the simplest idea just to do 17? Could we all agree on that? I'd suggest 17 plus 1 IL spot to start with. We can always increase IL or roster spots later but I say do 1 and see how it goes for a season.

Follow up to my last post. I changed the roster size to 17 plus 1 IL in Yahoo for now. It seems that is the fair compromise right now so I went with it. The discussion can continue, however I thought i'd let everyone know my change. As i said before, it's easier to add spots later than take them away.
