I think 2 moves per week is plenty, but I'd be happy with 3 also. I like to play the waiver wire, Ive always got my finger on the pulse of who is available. That doesnt mean I rely on it though, its just fun more than anything. And Cam is right, thats the point of a fantasy league (well, one of the main points anyway).

Here's a question I don't know the answer to because I'm not sure if it's possible to do in the commissioner tools. But what if you could pick up as many free agents as you want during the regular season, but when the playoffs begin we toggle it to where there is a three move per week maximum? And you still have the overall maximum moves number in place. That way you kind of have your cake and eat it too.

The Dynasty League Forum is now up and running!!!
We can take all Dynasty League discussions over there now. I've created a general rules thread and a member intro thread. We all know each other from the Keeper League but we will have a few new members of 3NC joining so thought it might be fun to get to know each other in a Member Intro Thread

I would be open to the weekly move limit in the keeper or standard league. I have never been big on the streaming.

I dont think I am going to do it. Although I hope I am wrong I honestly think the league will fail after about 5-10 years. People talk about being able to rebuild but if you get tired of your basketball having to rebuild how annoyed will you with your fantasy team having to rebuild.

Forget 5-10 years, I reckon it'll fail after a year or two. I think people are getting too greedy setting up too many leagues. Takes away importance of the other leagues. As good as the KL has been, and regardless of what others say, I can tell you right now that in the 10 years the SL has been running, the KL took a small piece of the SL and each year, the SL has slowly declined due to the fact that the interest has been spread around both leagues.
You guys might be able to stay interested in multiple leagues, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. Having three leagues running next to each other is overkill, and it'll start to slowly take off the gloss from the KL.

I appreciate the opinions, however i will respectfully disagree. I think what you are overlooking and the most important factor of any league is the players involved. The group of 13 we currently have are all seasoned players and understand what they are getting into here. I'm sure most of us have also run multiple teams at once and understand the commitment it takes. Speaking from my personal experience and what others have said, we were looking for a new challenge and a Dynasty Format can offer that. I also believe that having the 3 leagues run together side by side will help them stay strong. The reason is members often play in 2 or 3 of these leagues so you develop sort of a connection with everyone. I'm also committed to being the best leader of the league i can. Hopefully addressing any league concerns and problems. PM does a great job of that in the Keeper League and i hope to continue that here. I don't play in the SL so I can't speak from any experience but the fact it's been around for 10 years says something to me. With that being said, thanks again for the feedback. For now i'll turn my focus on filling that last spot with someone a little more positive about the league

I've been playing 3 or more Fantasy Basketball leagues for the last 10 years or so along with as many as 3 football leagues. Leagues usually fail because multiple GMs fail to keep their teams competitive. It seems inevitable that every year each league has two or three Gms that lose their edge for multiple reasons, family, life changes, etc. I'm continually amazed that we've been able to restock every year and typically with better GMs. I think that the root of the Keeper Leagues problems go back to the Auction draft where some of the GMs that weren't able to make the draft got handed a shit sandwich by the autodraft, and other GMs stacked their teams with 3+ top 50 players which doesn't usually happen in a snake draft, and I also think that the Keeper League goals has been muddied by those of us GMs that wanted to make it a Dynasty League from the start thus turning it into more than a Keeper league but less than a Dynasty compromise. I think it's inevitable that at some point we will restart the Keeper League with a redraft with all of the rule changes in place from the lessons learned but I think it will be a better League for it. I think that the separation of the three will make them individually stronger with clearer goals. Multiple leagues has however hurt the random posts about the NBA, etc as everyone is more guarded about revealing players that they favor etc but things have trended down anyways as a lot of GMs have families and kids that pull more of our attention away from our friends and our own interests. Cheers though Roost, 3NC has had a pretty incredible run so far and I've certainly enjoyed it.

Haha, flattering but Im hardly a seasoned player (this is my third season coming up) and Ive never run more than 2 teams at once (and one of them last year was pretty half hearted)... however, my goal last year was to learn all I could about fantasy ball, and Im far more confident this year and thus have taken on the triple crown of 3NC.

Well mags I think you'll find that running additional fantasy basketball league's is actually not very much more additional physical work to do. The real tax with running several leagues comes on your mind when you are away from the computer. Randomly throughout the day things run through your head like players, numbers, trade possibilities, player psychology, even the psychology of other managers you're playing against often comes into play. The number of leagues you can run simultaneously successfully while still being a functional member of society is different from person-to-person. For me I have found that I can comfortably run10 to 15 teams without losing optimal operational focus. A few years ago I found myself in over 25 leagues one season, that was just way too much and I had a lot of trouble keeping things straight in my head. If I had a psychiatrist she probably would have told me that I was letting the game run my life too much, then I would have fired her. Anyway if there is a value to being in more than just a couple leagues at a time in the season it is that you get a wider look at more players during the year; Fantasy basketball is really like any other game, you get better with exposure and experience.

haha yeah it can be pretty consuming, thats for sure! I will never run a team outside of 3NC for as long as this place stays around - and with a 10 year history and a very strong managers base of great dudes, I dont see it going anywhere in a hurry. Im in it for the long haul. I want a championship in each league. I think Keeper League will always be my #1 priority as its the team that started my career and Im very pleased with how I have morphed this team into a genuine powerhouse. Yes, it helps to have Davis and LeBron handed to me, but 2 stars dont make a team. Surely helps of course. I actually find its more about the last guys on your roster - they are the ones that will tip you over the point from good team to great team. We all have superstars. It comes down to depth.

I'm fairly certain i will have the 14th member signed up today. Once that is done i will lock the league and we can move forward with official league business.
