WEEK 1 MATCH-UP BREAKDOWNS POINT/COUNTERPOINTSo typically in the other Leagues one GM does a thread on the Matchups for each week and it rotates to a different GM each week, but as schedules get busy it's a lot to put on one GM each week. I'm thinking that each GM could breakdown their own match-up each week and I'll start it off by breaking down my team's match-up with the Sultans of Swing and he can either try to refute my claims or just post his own take on the match-up etc. WEEK 1 SCHEDULE4 Games- ATL & CHI 2 Games- MIN & PHI ![](http://i897.photobucket.com/albums/ac180/Badgerlander/week1_zpsggcjd0lx.png)

Balki vs. Cam2Win
Balki wins: blocks, 3PTM, STL Cam wins: FG%, FT%, PTS Toss up: AST, TO
So in the battle of two teams that are built for future years, I'm predicting a 4-4 tie. I realize this is far from a bold prediction, but it's what I really expect. However, the young guys on either of our teams could swing the matchup. It will be interesting to see how many of the rookies actually contribute in week 1.

The matchupsCurry vs Reggie Jackson- Curry=MVP, so even though Reggie averaged 20.1pts 10.8ast 5.8reb 4.8fta on 49.4%fg 41.7% 3pt with Drummond and without Monroe last year I have to give this one to the Sultan. Lawson vs McCollum- per36 Lawson is putting up 17.1pts 1.8 3pt 4.4reb 5.1ast 2.2stls with Houston so far whilst McCollum is blistering 21.3pts 2.6 3pt 3.2reb 5.4ast. I have the feeling that Lillard won't give up the ball as much once the games are for real, plus McCollum isn't going to get steals, so again I'm giving this one to the Sultan. Millsap vs Porter- Otto is averaging 13.8pts 1.0 3pt 3.6reb 2.2ast 1.4stl in the preseason and looking good. Millsap may play a little more SF with Splitter pushing Horford to PF, so I expect his fg% to dip a little and 3pta to go up. Millsap is one of the most consistent producers across the board in fantasy and even at 31 I expect that to continue. Advantage Sultan Dirk vs Zinger- Probably the matchup that I will be most anxious to watch since it sounds like Porzingis will start. I won't kid myself though as 'staps is averaging 7.3pts 1.0 3pt 5.3reb 1.7ast 1.3blks on .346/.429/.500% right now in the preseason, but old man Dirk is clicking along at 9.5pts 2.0 3pt 5.5reb 1.5ast. The Mavs are all hurt so Dirk may have to carry this team early, while Porzingis will most likely get the hook pretty early in games. Advantage Sultan Towns vs Chandler- Another young vs old matchup. Towns started the preseason on fire but has cooled off a bit to avg 11.6pts 6.8reb 1stl 1.2blk on 50%fg 90%ft, while old man Tyson has sat back and watched Len go off. Once the season starts I'm guessing Chandler looks closer to form but I'm going out on a limb that KAT wins this matchup on his way towards ROY. Advantage Dire Wolves Horford vs O'Quinn- Kyle O'Quinn is a sneaky good per minute fantasy producer avg 11.5pts 7.8reb 1.8ast 1blk so far with the Knicks and may produce more if Zinger does get the early hook in games, but when healthy Horford gets it done to include averaging 1 3pt in just 21 minutes this preseason. Advantage Sultan Holiday vs Russell- Jrue is on a minute limit coming back from injury so I'm really not sure what to expect here or even if he'll be in the starting lineup, while Russell has been hot and cold so I'm going to go with a Pushing on this one. Aminu vs Crowder- this one should be epic. Aminu+Crowder both exploded back to fantasy relevance in the playoffs last spring. I'm going to give this one to Aminu simply because I think he'll get more minutes but if you like a scrap this one should be fun. Probably a Push. Ariza vs Hezonja- Ariza is going to win this matchup going away because I'm really not expecting Super Mario to get many minutes early in the season., but once MArio learns to play D watch out because he is going to dunk on your head. Advantage Sultan. Redick vs Jenkins- This one should be fun as Jenkins has been tearing it up in the preseason with all the MAvs injuries. Jenkins is averaging a stunning 20.6pts 2 3pt 3.6reb 1.4ast with 5.6fta on .493/.303/.893% shooting. I certainly don't expect this to continue into the regular season but if it does I'll be dancing the waiver wire irish jig. Advantage Sultan. Mo Williams vs Jerian Grant- Grant has looked good coming of the bench in NY and I can't wait to watch him overtake Calderone, but Kyrie is out til January and Mo is going to tear it up again with LeBron and Co. Advantage Sultan. Mason Plumlee vs TJ Warren- This one should be fun as they are suprisingly similar in production. Warren is dropping 13.3pts 3.8reb 1.3stl on 48%fg this preseason while Plumlee is only going for 6.2pts 5.7reb 1.7ast but at a blistering 68%fg. I think it'll come down to matchups as to who gets the ball more so I'm giving this one a push. Capela vs Motiejunas- Motie probably won't play coming off of back surgery and Capela has been averaging a double double in the preseason. Advantage Dire Wolves. Colonel Greivis vs Myles Turner- no contest really as the Pacers are bringing Turner along slowly and I expect Greivis to start for the Bucks the first few months of the season. I think Greivis has a career year under Jason Kidd. Advantage Sulton. Ross vs RHJ- nobody cares but I think Rondae will be the next Tony Allen under coach Lionel Hollins, while Ross is buried on the Raps depth chart. Neither player is doing anything this first week. Push Oubre vs McCallum- ridin the pine So for those keeping score thats Sultan-7 Dire Wolves-2 Push-4 so the Sultans should wins this one pretty handily if even half of the pushes bounce my way.

Thanks for getting this started Reavers and great idea! It will be alot easier for us to manage weekly threads if we each analyze our own matchups and others can jump in as they see fit.
it's hard to tell how things will play out before seeing our teams perform for the first time but i'll give it a go as well.
Analysis - I agree with Balki's assessment. Our teams are built in very much the same manner. Youth is our teams strengths and it may take a year or two for either of us to see what we really have. No doubt he has a clear advantage over me in the front court with Noel and Ibaka. My only big worth while at this point is BroLo. Balki also has the advantage over me when it comes to deep shooters no doubt. With Wall and Mudiay my main PG's i could struggle from 3. I also agree when it comes to FG% being a strength of mine in this matchup. Other than Mudiay i have no high volume shooters that shoot low % and my bigs are all good FT% guys.
My key matchup - going to go off the board here and say the winner of the Nikola Jokic vs Joffrey Lauvergne will determine who wins. I'm sure we both have high hopes for our young Nuggets front court players. Both guys will compete for minutes and will benefit by a prolonged absence of Nurkic. With our teams being so closely built it could come down to bench play in a few categories and these 2 will be front and center.
In related news, as excited as we both our about our young Nuggets, I'm sure we aren't putting fear in any future opponents with them either. And with that, I'm sure soon enough we'll be trading BroLo and Ibaka to clear room for these guys and dominating the league....you'll see.....
My prediction is a 5-4 win with Balki taking Rebounds.

probably not a good a week for me
conley - bledsoe: conley being under rated big time this year but bledsoe is gonna be huge this year, 1 to Gbmb Kawhi - batum - kawhi here but he is usually a slow starter, 1 to me bradley - knight - 1 to gbmb easy t harris - durant - another easy one to gbmb mirotic - vucevic - another one to gbmb dieng - wes mathews - expecting a slow start for wes, so 1 for me here val - rolo - gonna give myself 1 here but i am a bias val fan lin - wade - gbmb nurkic - hibbert - gbmb sullinger - jack - jack has a clear role, sullinger not so much, another 1 for gbmb deng - Bogut - one for me, hooray!
gonna do a combined bench because neither of are deep bogdanovic, bass, grant, lamb, frye and KJ V miles, koufos, cole, zaza and teletovic - another 1 for gmbm
so

So this week I'm up against UA. Not expecting a lot out of my team this year as my draft strategy was more on trying to get a young team maybe with more upside and potential rather then drafting a team that could win now.
I think the categories will break down like this
FG% - UA - I just have guys that are not going to help me in this. FT% - Eh - think I can take this one although it'll be close. We both have guys that can shoot it well from the line and we also have guys that maybe need to put in a little more practice 3PT - UA - with UA having Klay Thompson alone, I think helps him win this one PTS - UA - he just has more guys that get more points. Simple. REB - Eh - Think the combination of Davis and ZBo help me pull this one out AST - Eh - going to be very close but I'm hoping I might have just enough to edge UA here STL - Eh - Actually surprised to see how many guys I have that can get steals. BLKS - UA - with Anthony Davis I thought I'd have this easy but his counter of Whiteside basically cancels Davis out. After that I think UA has more guys who can contribute to this then I do. TO - UA - Of the top 5 players with the highest TO rate, I have 4 of them. UA will take this easy
Final UA 5 - Eh 4
Unfortunately for me I don't think I'll come out with a win this week but I do believe I can be competitive.

Schwidawg's Team vs Playmaker24
I have never really done this before fella's so please bare with me.
I think my starters are some pretty decent established vets and should do well. My bench on the other hands has ALOT to be desired. I am really not sure how my team will do this season. This team really isn't built for a championship now but also isn't built for the future. That's why I think I will be just above .500 this season.
Like I do every season, I adjust as I go along. Only difference for me is that my adjustments need to be for the seasons to come, not just one season. I am not sure how Paul Pierce will do this season and he is in my starting rotation.
I think I will give Playmaker a run for their money this week maybe edging him out with a win. (Maybe that's some wishful thinking too).
Early on into this season, i will really try to be a student of all the games and make those needed adjustments. Either way, win or lose, I already can tell this will be a great season. GL everyone.

Hey this is a good idea for doing the threads.
UA versus Canadian.
My team has way too much depth for Canadian to be able to deal with. I should cruise to a relatively easy 6-3, maybe 7-2 if I maneuver my lineup just right. I might just leave Whiteside on my IL for that first week to give Gerald Green and varajao A little extra run. The only apprehension I have is that my fantasy teams frequently start the season flat for some reason, so if that happens and Anthony Davis goes berzerk then I could conceivably lose this match up.

The Imaginarium opens...
Mr Clutch's Gang V The Imaginarium
Russell Westbrook / Chris Paul Both are triple double machines high in FG% and both get high numbers in stls & rebs only edge i see is Westbrook usage rate is insane but ill start by calling this a draw...
Victor Oladipo/ George Hill No doubt "georgie" is overwhelmed by victor o's star power -edge Imagin
Danny Green / Jeff Teague Danny might be outplayed by Teague here he'll have him in pts & asst while danny could make it interesting w some weak side blks Rudy Gay / JR Smith 3rd Rudy is primed to have the season if his career and that's actually saying something looking for big numbers in pts, rebs asst and solid defense numbers JR the third is a role player that's probably 4th in the offence...edge imagin
Aaron Gordon / Blake Griffin No doubt blake should smash the youngin here edge ..MCG
Harrison Barnes / Kevin Love Ovr the summer barnes looked like he was ready to take that next step seems like GSW is still all about the guard play... disappointing K-Love is looking like he wants to "play make" as well as score ...edge MCG
Marc Gasol / Markieff Morris Big Bang!! Going to hit all categories of a #1 fantasy center..edge Imagin
Jordan Clarkson / Monta Ellis This would be closer but seems Ellis is slowed a bit to start Clarkson should take this one
WCS / David Lee Lee should start but his number might be a lil off mostly from his teammates WCS looking to get some cheap blks.. Edge ..draw
Marco Belinelli/ Marcus Morris 6th man of the yr candidate vs a guy that's hated on his own team..edge Imagi
Meyers Leonard/ Julius Randle Man this close Randle might score earlier in the week while Leonard would have to have an all around effect..edge MCG
Looking at the whole I'm looking at a close 5-4 or if my bigs play above their head could pull it to a 6-3 ither way im thinking this could be a matchup to watch...

playmaker24 vs Schwidawg's Team I'm going into this season pretty confident in how I've set up this team with the ability to compete now and enough younger players to be competitive in the future.
That confidence continues over into week 1. What are my strengths....clearly rebounding, scoring, blks are the big strengths, while fg% should be good and so should stls and 3ptm. So here are the matchups from my perspective:
Lillard v Rubio George v DeRozan Rose v Gordon W Chandler v Lebron Drummond v Aldridge Favors v P Gasol Howard v C Bosh Beal v Pierce DWill v Canaan Noah v Gortat Afflalo v K Mart A Johnson v T Young Gibson v O Asik Stuckey v Beverley Harris v E Turner C Zeller v J Smith T Snell v Neto
My team certainly has some question marks from a health perspective and that is certainly relevant going into week one with DWill, DRose and Howard with limited preseason action. Schwidawg has a solid collection of bigs who present a very good challenge for my team. Most weeks I'll expect to mark off rebs as a win early in the wek, but this week it's unknown. From there it's a question of whether Rose and Howard will play all the games? Will Johnson, Zeller and even Harris win the starting job for their teams? How much impact will Noah's demotion to the bench have?
I'm going to be optimistic though and say that they'll all play, and contribute and that my team should be able to pull away for a close win. I see myself having an advantage in fg%, pts, asts, blks with many of the others to close to call at this stage. It'll be an interesting first week regardless.

The good news is my team probably won't be competitive this year anyway. Time will tell whether I have the patience to be a good dynasty manager...
