I've been so focused on my dynasty team and those message boards that I haven't wandered away from that area in weeks so I'm just now becoming aware of this thread. The most recent news with me I can say is that Jim and I buried the hatchet and I couldn't be happier about that.
William, age 42. Shit you guys are all tall… 5 foot 8 if you squint. Occupation… I guess I've had a lot of jobs and interests over the years ranging from private sector to government to investments to contract work but nothing ever stuck. At my heart I love philosophy and political activism and having a job kind of gets in the way of that thought process. I'm not rich by any means but I've done well enough so far to be able to forgo working to pursue my personal interests. The most honest to God job I guess I could say I've had was I was a CADD draftsman in an architectural firm for several years designing hospitals, schools, junk like that.
Favorite team of course is the San Antonio Spurs. I was drawn to Basketball by David Robinson. The buzz around him got everybody in San Antonio's attention and boy did he deliver right out of the gate. My all-time favorite player however is Rod Strickland. Rod was the point guard for the spurs in Robinson's rookie year and I absolutely fell in love with the game watching him play. His creativity totally blew my mind, until I saw him play I had no idea just how complex and beautiful the sport really was. After that I was outside playing basketball every day until it was dark and my toes bled. Always the shortest guy on the court I prided myself on my fundamentals and deception and Strickland was my inspiration to strive to figure out how to score on tall people. Robinson brought me to the game, Stricland made me fall in love with it, and Michael Jordan showed me what greatness looked like. I know some people would say yeah yeah everybody says Michael Jordan… but to watch that guy play live was nothing short of a spiritual experience. Those would be my three favorite and most influential basketball players of all time. Because of those three guys I made it a point to look back and study the leagues history to see some of the great players that retired before I had become enlightened. I have a number of favorite players though… including John Stockton, Larry Bird, White chocolate, doc Rivers, Tim Hardaway, Shawn Kemp, penny Hardaway, Vinny Johnson, and in recent times I love Kawhi Leonard of course, I like James Harden,... I guess I need to think about that, I generally don't "like" anybody outside my home team during the season because I see everybody as the enemy. Maybe respect is a more apt word then like here.
Interests outside of basketball… I don't really have a style of music that I like best but rather a collection of songs that I just like. I used to play a pretty mean game of golf, but had to put my clubs down a few years back, along with my basketball, when my vision declined a bit. As it turns out you can't really play either of those sports when your depth perception declines. Most of my free time these days is spent reading and studying about world events, history, astronomy, science fiction. Pulp fiction and the big Lebowski are near the top of my favorite movies list. Playing a game app called clash of clans that I highly recommend nobody ever allow themselves to get sucked into. On occasion all go out to a bar with my friends so I can dominate the weekly trivia competition.
My cats name is Julia. Say hello Julia. Julia says hello.
I have two kids, the boy is 15 and the girl is 10. I am now about 7 1/2 years removed from my well-publicized divorce. I always thought it was kind of strange and unlikely that I got married in the first place and it will be very strange and unlikely if I ever allow that to happen again. It is so important to me to have a free mind and a light spirit… I didn't even realize I was missing those things until I got them back.
Can't quite remember what other biographical I needed to hit… oh and I Uber everywhere, my last car was a dependable and agile blue Toyota Corolla I named Sabrina.
