Firstly, no no, we're not changing the league or what has worked in the past in terms of how the league over at yahoo runs. However, there are going to be changes made to communication, eg: forums, message boards, ect.
I feel as if whilst the forum has worked here, there are still too many people not active. Case in point? Winit, Hawks, 360, Pride, Blazers ect. Hell, Winit still uses the message board over at yahoo more than anything.
Thus, right now I've got some idea's I'm working on that are based around returning discussion back to yahoo's fantasy boards. It all starts with recruitment. I've laid out the plans, and the recruitment will start on day 1 next season, once leagues open. My plan next season is simple, I'm going to open up the floor to the league, mostly the managers that are active or willing to make decisions.
Here's what my plan is.
* Advertise over at yahoo ONCE yahoo fantasy bball is open for business
* Pool together the individuals who reply to the advertisement, get their yahoo basketball profiles and thoroughly scout their profile.
*. Converse with the individuals through email (vital as I need to see their personality). I will be informing each person that consistent inactivity at any point during the season will not be tolerated, and "taking your ball and going home" after they figure out that they cannot make the playoffs is just not an option. Their replies will be crucial, and their replies will be indeed copied and pasted here, on the forums.
* As I said above, their replies will be copied and pasted here, and then there will be a new system implemented where each team has the option of accepting or declining. The teams who'll have this right are, and in no order:
1. Melbourne Force
2. Playmaker24
3. Budgewoi Bulldogs
4. Basket Reavers
5. Canadian Eh
6. PP
This is actually a big thank you to these people who are indeed active on the forums each day and have been so all season. All 6 of these guys plus myself have the right to judge the interview process. I will be posting each interview here and it'll be up to you guys and myself to select who you feel fits the league. My plan is to interview as many people as possible. We can spread this process out for as long as possible as we won't be rushing a draft this season. This in my opinion will help the league find the right personalities to join next season. Obviously the people listed above are not expected to participate if they don't feel comfortable with the process, but it's not really hard to come here and look at a dozen, hell, if not more interviews and judge who's the best personality that fits this league.
How will I be doing the interviews? Well I've yet to figure it out and I've got an entire off season to do so. But right now, this is the direction i feel we should take. If you're against it, feel free to discuss.
PS: Yes, I've left spurs out and it's simply because right now, I'm not sure where his mind is for next season and whether or not he's coming back. He's gone very quiet, and thus we'll wait it out however he's always welcomed on the list for he's been active on the forums for a long time too.
Next, the forums. Right now, I'm looking at the forum and seeing the usual posters and whilst the forums have been a great addition, it's not bringing everyone into the discussion. Thus, I've now decided to let this forum stay open as a league HQ for the off season's we have (to keep people informed). However, during the season, the goal will be to lock this forum and return to the discussion boards over at yahoo. The reason why I'm looking at doing this is simple, to get EVERYONE involved. That's the goal. You may ask, what about weekly threads? Well, this is where I'm really improvising. I had this plan thought up last night, and it's time to throw it out there. Whether it becomes 100% legit I don't know, but I'm 80-20 on it at the moment.
The plan is to set up a video blog of yours truly that'll be doing up matchups each week. Now I know what you thought and no, my ugly arse won't be on the video. However, my voice will be and it'll be a commentary of a few minutes based around matchups each week. This addition in my opinion brings in a fresh new look to the league and gives people something new to look forward too every week as I'm an opinionated person and I like to push buttons.
As I said, this is 80-20 at the moment, I'm not sure where I'll do it, but adding it in my opinion can only be looked at as a positive.
Outside of that, nothing else new to report other then the above. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.
