Honestly nobody is talking about doing that so you don't have anything to worry about. Incidentally, Yahoo now gives enlightened commissioners The ability to randomly draw their own official draft order, So it is not any longer necessary to wait 30 minutes before the draft for Yahoo to determine the order. It would not make any sense to do a random redraft order now that we are in the second year of the money league Anyway. Now that we are doing it this way I think it is probably best to keep it the way it is into perpetuity.

Honestly I do't have a problem if we go to a random draft order every year especially now that it's a money league. I do prefer to know the draft order like a week before so I can plan my strategy a little rather than finding out right before the draft the way yahoo does it. Valid point. It would not make any sense to do a random redraft order now that we are in the second year of the money league Anyway. Now that we are doing it this way I think it is probably best to keep it the way it is into perpetuity. Says the guy who just finished 3rd... !! But in all seriousness, I only brought it up because it was what I was thinking. And as PP can attest, I generally speak my mind. I think the depth of top tier fantasy prospects has increased dramatically. The conversation used to be around CP3 or Lebron. Then it became CP3, Lebron and Durant, now it's Durant and Lebron... Well... I'd actually argue the reverse is true. Prior to Durant (07/08), it was probably even more balanced - with LeBron being a part of the mix, not even necessarily the top dog. Kobe was having some amazing seasons, Steve Nash near guaranteeing you 17/10 per game, Jason Kidd, Agent Zero and Deron Williams were doing damn well too. Dirk and KG were elite. Hell... the mid-2000s there was more parity. Now? We're in a transitional period. Sure, new talent's coming through, but in the top few places you have the truly elite - then you have a next-level and those declining on the tier below. Look - whatever you guys decide is ok by me. Given I'm forking out $$, I'd prefer it to be random each year. There absolutely is a benefit to drafting at the head of the class. (oh... and if anyone's interested in NFL Fantasy - I have an eliminator pool - no drafting necessary... interesting game. Lemme know if you're interested!)

Malice, I wasn't referring to you in that last post, It was a flipp remark aimed at Reivers, But I can see how you thought I was talking about you... Which was not my intention, Speaking your mind is not an issue.
What i meant in That Comment you quoted me on is Basically I don't think it will ever happen. I mean, Last season a few of us approached the Topic of doing a random redraft For the sake of it being a Transitioning money league and all.(I think you may have joined the league shortly after this was all decided, I'm not sure). I thought I made a pretty good case, I think my position was heard fairly, But ultimately there was more than enough resistance to keep it from ever even coming to a vote. And I was not even proposing to get rid of the best-to-worst format, I only suggested to do the random re draft for the first year of the money league only as kind of a Goodwill gesture to everybody that we were starting fresh. So what I am saying is that if it wasn't going to happen Last year when the timing would have been perfect then it probably never will. There are valid reasons to do a random ordering, But tradition trumps them all. Don't get me wrong, I do like the way we order the draft in here currently. It is a different way of doing it from most money leagues, Which by itself is almost enough for me to like it. It is also kind of interesting to see how the story unfolds over the years... Every season is touched by what ever happened in the season before, Every season will touch The season that comes after. The circle of life, Or something. Anyway it's not Likely to change, That's my read on it, For all of the 1/14th weight My opinion carries.

Malice, if there is ever a issue that you feel needs to be addressed and you feel strongly about it, bring it about it a more official manner ie. create a thread for it. We will all listen to what you have to say, regardless of the topic, and conduct a poll if need be.
Any moment now, Yahoo will hopefully open up registration.
Now...Now...Now...NOW!

As I recall last season yahoo fantasy basketball opened about August 28 or something. The site Promptly crashed and did not re open for another week or so. Apparently the problem was that yahoo fantasy basketball opened on a day when nfl Fantasy traffic was peeking.
I still have not seen on announcement from Yahoo on when they plan to open. If I were to wager a guess on the over/under On yahoos opening day it would be Monday, September 9. That gets week 1 Of fantasy football out of the way.
Hopefully sooner. I am so bored. I feel the need to rank something. I even found myself ranking the clothes in my closet from best to worst...sadly, That turned out to be a shallow draft.

I'm hoping the wait isn't much longer than this. Just want the season to begin and fill the fantasy sport void that's empty when it's not NBA season

Crap, Still no announcement from Yahoo. Opening day is only 48 days away, What are they waiting for? Do you think they would make us wait until the opening of training camps? ... That would be September 28 I think. Shirley not, I hope. Somebody in the Internet world suggested that perhaps Yahoo had dropped fantasy basketball altogether. That was a chilling thought, But I figure that would have been big news that we would have known about by now. With any luck we will all wake up tomorrow morning with email in our box saying the fantasy season has begun.
So everybody just RELAX! DON'T PANIC! Put the gun back in the drawer! Nothing is screwed! Don't think about having to move all of this shit to ESPN. I SAID PUT THE GUN BACK IN THE DRAWER!

I agree..the reason we went with winner getting 1st pick was to reward for being the champ...now the reward is cash. I think at least next year we should decide to go with Random draft order

We will all review this next season, since most managers have paid, probably best to stick with this current format and have a serious look at the random order draft next season.

Why? Of the people who are active, a significant number have stated that they a) don't care, or b) don't like the current situation!
Meh... forget it. I guess my comments don't count any more anyway.

Malice, your comments have been heard and are always appreciated. I understand your argument, however to address winnie's comment about cash being the motivator now, that is not true for those who are out of the race for winning the cash. That is, unless there is a payout to the winner of the consolation bracket.
I don't think anyone is in disagreement that a championship level squad can be built from any draft position, but the key question is how to ensure strong activity levels right through to the end of the season. Now obviously, nothing can be guaranteed, and I believe we have got a good group of active managers that are naturally competitive, but it has taken this league 6-7 years to get to this position. So it is understandable that there is a bit of nervousness to changing the way things are done.
