Looks like we have a Dwight trade, but its ugly for ORLy
Alex Kennedy @alexkennedynba
The Orlando Magic will likely receive Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic, Moe Harkless and three first-round picks.
The Los Angeles Lakers will likely receive Dwight Howard, Chris Duhon and Earl Clark.
The Denver Nuggets will likely receive Andre Iguodala and possibly one other asset.
The Philadelphia 76ers will likely receive Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson.

I'm not sure how good or bad Orlando did here. Afflalo and Harrington are certainly useful. With Jason Richardson out of the way that means the rookie harkless Will have a lot more playing time then he might have in Philadelphia. The three first round draft picks are nice too if there aren't any strings attached to them.
The Lakers did well to hold on to Gasol in the process.
I think Philadelphia was the winner of the four teams.

Lakers scored Howard, Nash and Jamison in 1 offseason...does anyone else think thats bullshit??
Sure....it happened in 03/04 with Malone and Payton coming in but they were pretty much done by the time they put on a Laker uniform...but Nash is still a top 10 (maybe still top 5) PG and Jamison would make an awesome 6th man

I'm just pissed because I bet my buddy, a huge Lakers fan, $20 that Howard wouldn't end up on the Lakers.

I think Philadelphia was the winner of the four teams. ORLy did awful on this deal. Afflalo is a nice player, a little overpaid though. After this year Harrington's deal is only 50% gtd. They got rid of JRich and Duhon, but yet kept Big Baby's awful deal and Turkoglu? Harklesss and Vucevic could both be nice players but the 3 picks that they are getting are protected? wtf? The Lakers, omg. Nash and Gasol will be an amazing PnR duo, and now they have Dwight to cover their butts on D and do all the dirty work. Their only problem is trying to find Kobe enough shots so he doesn't get his panties in a bind. Philly needs a PF that can shoot jumpers, but otherwise I like their moves. If they can unload Thad for an asset they could be pretty solid. Denver can trot out Lawson/Iggy/Gallo/Chandler/McGee and score from anywhere or slide Chandler to the 3 take out Gallo for Faried and be solid on D. They are going to be fun to watch.

I guess I will play the devils advocate on the Laker and Orlando trade.
As good as it looks right now for the Lakers I can definitely see how it can also blow up in their faces. Howard is most likely to sign with the Lakers next summer officially but that is not set in stone, and a lot of drama can happen in Los Angeles in just one year. We still have not seen how Howard plays after that surgically repaired back, and we do not know how many years off of his career is that might have done. 26 years old is a little early to have your first back surgery. Bynum is even two years younger than Dwight. If I word Dwight Howard I would pass on that last year of my deal & an extension with the Lakers immediately before anyone has a chance to see him play with that back issue.
For Orlando, Gasol would have been a very good but very expensive player for two years maybe, and I do not think Orlando has eyes on being in the finals within that time span. Having a big time super star does not seem to agree with them (see shaq and Dwight) so I like the balanced team approach Direction Orlando is going in. They also seem to be saving a lot of money in the process.

I think this means that hawes will get to be the full time job shot happy power forward he has always wanted to be, and they will still need Thuddeus' production off the bench.

Yeah Hawes will probably start and can slide to the 5 when they bring in Allen or Thad and then pair up Moultrie with Kwame.

Actually I think it opens things up for Wilson Chandler as their 6th man, but I expect Faried will be pretty firmly in the rotation this year ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) and there were no negotiations as he wasn't for sale, lol. Don't forget Denver also signed Anthony Randolph and look what they were able to do with McGee. I did try to pry Kawhi loose from Spurs but he wouldn't deal with me. Anyway, awesome gold medal game, close the entire way with Spain targeting the USA's lack of big men and almost pulling it out.

I wanted ersan and perkovic. I didnt want to give up kawi and so I almost only did the humphries for perkovic trade. He then threw in parker for pierce so I was able to get a spur and still get younger. overall I actually got younger in the trade and think I got some solid building blocks for the future.

That was a pretty good gold medal game. Better then the Dream Team my ass tho.
Yah spurs, that was a fun negotiation. We must have gone through more than 10 different offers. I remember I passed on Pierce early in the process but it became clear to me that I wasn't going to be able to get you to move on Leonard without Pierce being involved with Parker. And I figured you did not have the heart to fire Paul Pierce yourself and wanted me to do your dirty work for you. I did not even let Paul Pierce unpack his bags when you traded him to me.

I would have kept him as he still has a couple good years left in him but I was able to get younger by getting parker. As I said i would have done humnphris for perkovic also as I didnt want kawi to leave but I dont know what his PT will be like this year as the spurs once again have so many guards.
