I see your point about what his playing time might be, there are a lot of guys at his position. I think he played in summer league and the Spurs had him at positions ranging from SG to C which really really perked up my interest in him. Rather then taking away from the Spurs strengths at guards and small forward, fund expansion of Leonards versatility will hopefully mean far fewer minutes for Matt Bonner and blair.

I do hope it means less min for bonner and blair. I dont think his will be effected much but I saw it as a way to get younger (overall) also. I wanted to keep kawi (as you know) but I saw this trade as helping my team overall with some risk. I still see neal as your weakest keeper as I see him not getting much pt or being traded with bliar/bonner.

I guess I will play the devils advocate on the Laker and Orlando trade. As good as it looks right now for the Lakers I can definitely see how it can also blow up in their faces. Howard is most likely to sign with the Lakers next summer officially but that is not set in stone, and a lot of drama can happen in Los Angeles in just one year. We still have not seen how Howard plays after that surgically repaired back, and we do not know how many years off of his career is that might have done. 26 years old is a little early to have your first back surgery. Bynum is even two years younger than Dwight. If I word Dwight Howard I would pass on that last year of my deal & an extension with the Lakers immediately before anyone has a chance to see him play with that back issue. For Orlando, Gasol would have been a very good but very expensive player for two years maybe, and I do not think Orlando has eyes on being in the finals within that time span. Having a big time super star does not seem to agree with them (see shaq and Dwight) so I like the balanced team approach Direction Orlando is going in. They also seem to be saving a lot of money in the process. UA UA, Dwight will re-sign in LA, we can offer him more money then anyone else, and we're the lakers, endless marketing opportunities, a front office that gets shit done, dwight is here to stay his back issues are a worry, just as bynums knees were we added steve nash this offseason and still improved defensively, thats pretty good i still think we're a level behind miami and OKC but we can compete with them now

BB, yeah the Lakers can pay Dwight more than anybody else, no doubt about that. I am just saying that they may regret being on the books with him in time. If this back issue takes the word "jumping" out of his game, then he has a painfully limited below the rim Game to fall back on. Dwight is in no hurry to sign an extension, if I wear the Lakers I would take full advantage of that and wait until next year to sign him up. Otherwise they run the risk of signing a dud to a massive five year contract. I'm not saying it will not work out, just that I can see ways where it can go horribly wrong. If Dwight is truly 100% then I think they take down OKC.
And tell your gets shit done GM to hurry up and sign barbosa I have him as a keeper and his free agency is making me nervous. Meeks was a nice pick up.
----- -----
On a side note, the buzz on the local Spurs radio is that we might sign Greg Oden (I kind of like it if we sign him on the cheap. Perhaps he can be repaired. We have been pining for a decent seven footer for years now and I think this is a risk that we can take. (attention Los Angeles, this is the reality of free agency in small market cities. It ain't easy building a championship team with what is willing to come to you )

I heard that was a rumor from some guy making a hypothesis of where he thought he might end up. I dont think there is any validity to that statement although I would like it if he did come here.

Yeah it is still just a total rumor , but a guy can dream. If he isn't totally broken forever then the guy has to end up somewhere right ? Dejuan Blair plays with no ACLs for god sakes. Oden's crumby legs would be an upgrade the way I see it.
Sigh. I think we are in for another year of the spurs being "pretty damn good but not good enough".

Now that Tony Parker has a bionic eye he should be better than ever, right?
Oden should fly right to Phoenix and beg them to sign him, but seriously I don't think he plays this year and then next year he'll play like 5 games before his repaired knees crumble.

So he can be stuck behind Gortat?? Frye is the current backup C/PF with Morris as the 4th big, JON as the 5th

So the Suns trainers can fix him, I'd say it's his best hope to play 3-4 years. He doesn't need to come in and play starters minutes right away anyway. I think Oden is done, a year away after playing so little the last few years...I'm surprised he isn't doing the Kobe/Germany knee surgery thingy.

Good God those are ugly uniforms.

Speaking of the Nuggs (and their terrible jersey's), this team is going to be very fun to watch and a huge sleeper in the west. Lawson is a gun and very underated if you're not a fantasy basketball player. Iggy is one of the best defensive wings in the league, throw in the rotation of Gallo/Chandler and if McGee can smile, improve his IQ (big task) and work on a combination with Faried, this team is scary good. Did I mention young?
